Wayne Anderson: Dragons & Other Tales

Born in Leicester in 1946, Wayne Anderson is known and loved for his multi-award winning illustrations in over 160 books for both children and adults, including The Tin Forest and The Dragon Machine. His pictures, whimsical, complex, dream-like inventions, have been exhibited around the world, and have been featured in magazine articles, international advertising campaigns, record covers and animated films.

Anderson initially trained as a designer. But a chance remark from a colleague in the late 60s led him to pursue a career in illustration. His first significant commission was a design for the cover of a National Westminster Bank guide to London, for which he used the coloured pencils that would become his medium of choice for virtually all his subsequent work. Whether creating a menagerie of mythical creatures or an advertising campaign for British Airways, Wayne Anderson's trademark style is a perfect balance of beauty and monsters.

The exhibition features a selection of 40 original works, prints and artefacts with a particular focus on the dragons and fairytale art that Wayne Anderson is especially renowned for.
