John Constable: celebrating 250 years

Marking 250 years since the birth of Suffolk-born artist John Constable, this exhibition joins a region-wide programme of anniversary celebrations. The Minories first opened to the public in 1958 with an exhibition of Constable's work, and the artist himself had strong ties to Colchester, where he frequently visited relatives and sketched the Roman walls and church. The show brings together work from the gallery's permanent Victor Batte-Lay Foundation Collection alongside loans from Colchester and Ipswich Museums and Brandler Galleries, Brentwood.
