HOFS opens its studios for a weekend exhibition showcasing the work of its studio artists, with refreshments.
Hadleigh Old Fire Station was built in 1931 as an operational fire station and decommissioned in 2008. It was refurbished and reopened as artist studios in July 2011, serving as the communication hub for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, whose mountain-biking event was held at neighbouring Hadleigh Farm. Its twenty affordable workspaces are home to fifteen individual creative practitioners, alongside Estuary Festival CIC, Hadleigh & Thundersley Community Archive and 2Create, a self-supporting group formed from Open Arts alumni.
The HOFS studio community includes Philip Bradshaw, Juliet Bryson, Sally Chinea, Susan Clare, Tessa Hallmann, Julia Hart, Alan Hockett, David Hurrell, Amanda Jackson, Emma Mower, Ingrid Thorpe and Nicola Vann of Studio Cotiere.
