Arpita Shah: Nalini

13 Jun 2026 – 4 Oct 2026

Arpita Shah: Nalini is a major photographic exhibition exploring motherhood, heritage, and intergenerational connection across three women — the artist's grandmother Nalini, her mother, and herself. Developed across India, East Africa and the UK, the series of twenty-six photographic works is shown alongside archival family photographs and personal objects including dried flowers and traditional saris, tracing how migration, distance and loss have shaped these three lives.

Arpita Shah is a photography and film artist based in Eastbourne. India-born, she has previously lived between India, Ireland and the Middle East. Her practice explores culture and identity, focusing on home, belonging and the shifting cultural identities shaped by her migratory experiences.

A Street Level Photoworks touring exhibition, supported by Creative Scotland and the Hope Scott Trust.
