Artist Statement

I am a visual artist working primarily with photography, encompassing analogue and cameraless techniques, digital photography, moving image and live projection. I create multi-layered imagery which explores themes of place, time, ecology and interconnectedness. I have a particular interest in the interplay between humans and nature, and the complex and tangled webs of connection that make up our world.

Since the support of a recent Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant from Arts Council England, I now work predominantly with sustainable analogue photography processes, specialising in botanical cyanotype toning, bringing in an additional layer of connection between subject and image through the materiality of place.

Ultimately my work aims to foster a sense of connection between people and the world around us, and position us humans as a part of nature, not apart from it.
