Jackie Duckworth

Jackie Duckworth is a printmaker and illustrator. She studied illustration at the Cambridge School of Art (Anglia Ruskin). Since then she has exhibited in Cambridge and across the UK plus Dublin and Helsinki. A highlight was the Cambridge Original Printmakers biennale in 2018. Since 2015 she has been a member of both Cambridge Open Studios and Cambridge Drawing Society. Her illustration work includes book covers, short stories and poetry.

Jackie's work is driven by the narrative of the mysterious, whether that is from mythology, history or personal inspiration. She creates graphic and sometimes surreal images to convey these narratives. Birds and beasts are often part of the story.

She works primarily in linocut, embracing the core qualities of the medium by using a limited number of layers and colours. Simplification is key and the reduction technique is her favourite method of adding colours to her work.

However on occasion she uses monoprint, collagraph and collage when her subject needs a more expressive use of tone and colour.

She also loves hand made artists books, and keeps trying to find more time to create them!
