Charlotte Bedingfeld
Charlotte Bedingfeld is a largely self-taught artist who has been based in Cambridge since 2018. She studied languages at university and returned to making art in 2014. She works in oils for her paintings of buildings and still life, and in graphite and coloured pencil for her portraits.
She makes art as a way of reconnecting with beauty. For her, painting and drawing are deeply visceral, an experience that has sharpened her perception and deepened her appreciation of the world around her.
A weekly life drawing session underpins her practice, reinforcing observational accuracy, proportion and gesture: her way of returning to the essentials of mark-making and visual study.
